Many will have recently heard of or read about the worrying cases involving women who have had silicon breast implants which have been discovered to be sub-standard. Clearly for those who have had breast implants, particularly from the company named in the news reports, this is likely to be a cause of considerable concern. There is the worry of having such an implant within your own body and the need for medical examination due to the risk of them rupturing. Treatment for this problem may involve medical investigations and could result in a surgical operation.

Along with this distress and anxiety there are the financial consequences. There is of course the cost of the removal of the implants. There may be loss of earnings during the period of the operation and the recovery from it. Of course there are the fees for the initial insertion of the implants which ought to, if possible, be recovered.
