Occupier's liabilty
What is Occupier’s Liability?
The law states that a person in control of an area of land is responsible for making sure that any visitor is not at risk of suffering an injury.
This ‘occupier’ might be a local authority, a company, or a private individual.
An occupier must be mindful of people entering their property and be prepared for the fact that children are less careful than adults. Therefore in certain circumstances they should take extra precautions.
How can we help?
If you are injured while on someone else’s property we can investigate whether the accident was caused through the fault of the occupier.
We can investigate the nature of the property, whether any precautions were taken, and whether there were any warning signs.
At an early stage we will also seek to establish whether there is any insurance to cover your claim.
Following investigation we will advise you on the prospects of success, and the likely level of damages and costs.
